I am not totally sure whether I am watching a hockey video game, or an actual televised hockey game, every time I catch a glimpse of footage from PS3 and Xbox NHL 10. Just how great PS3 and Xbox NHL 10 looks, sounds and feels, it is frightening, really. PS3 and Xbox NHL 10 is in an entirely different league, even though we have seen some decent hockey video games throughout the years. PS3 and Xbox NHL 10 is just a superior gaming experience, even when compared to its excellent predecessor.

Hockey video games come and go, but thankfully, that is not the case with PS3 and Xbox NHL 10. Never has a hockey video game so successfully captured the imagination of the video game world. Fans agree, and critics agree that PS3 and Xbox NHL 10 is really the greatest hockey video game ever made. It is hard to disagree with their assessment, as PS3 and Xbox NHL 10 has come up with a winning formula. And by that, the creators at EA Sports have listened to the fans, determined what they like or dislike about the previous installment, and went from there, making fixes that would appeal to even the most hardened skeptic. You have got Post-Whistle Action, where players can now do stuff such as finish checks, and pick fights after the referee has blown his whistle. Such a feature did not exist in the previous installment, so it is great that EA Sports has paid attention to the fans wishes to bring in some new elements. Yet at the same time, NHL 10 has kept aspects that worked. You know what they say, do not fix it if it is not broken. So once again, Gary Thorne and Bill Clement have returned to provide commentary for PS3 and Xbox NHL 10, just like they did for NHL 09. With all of this working for them, it is no wonder that PS3 and Xbox NHL 10 is taking the video game world by storm.

Hockey is a fast-paced and exhilarating sport not many parents considering allowing their children to play. For parents that have teenage boys with a little too much testosterone, hockey is a great way to get that energy out in a constructive way. Hockey is also good for kids that spend too much time on the computer or the Xbox. In addition, it’s a great way to make friends and stay fit.

Hockey skates are part of the uniform used to play hockey with – but there are definitely differences in the skates that are on the market – with the biggest being price and quality.

Professional hockey players from the former Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia are now ubiquitous, but Stan Mikita was something of a pioneer. The Chicago Blackhawks legend was sometimes relegated to secondary status behind more telegenetic stars like teammate Bobby Hull, but you can make a very good case that Mikita was the best NHL forward of the’60′s. He was born in Sokolce, in what is now known as Slovakia. In the conflict torn years prior to WW II, he was sent to Canada and adopted by an aunt and uncle. Like most young Canadian boys, he started playing hockey and quickly exhibited significant talent at the country’s national sport.

Although many of his offensive records have now been left in the dust by Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux, former Boston Bruins/New York Rangers center Phil Esposito is still regarded by hockey experts as one of the greatest players in NHL history. He’s forever enshrined in hockey’s hall of fame along with brother, goaltender Tony Esposito.

The Montreal Canadiens have gotten off to a slow start this season, and entered Thursday night’s game against the New York Islanders having gone thirteen games without a win in regulation dating back to last season. Apparently, all they needed to cure their ails was a team that was struggling more than they are. The Habs jumped on them early scoring three goals in the first two periods en route to a 5-1 victory at the Bell Centre. Montreal improved to 4-5-0 with the victory while the Islanders dropped to 1-4-3.

After losing the services of starting goalie Roberto Luongo for the indefinite future with a broken rib, the Canucks may have breathed a sigh of relief too soon after backup goalie Andrew Raycroft’s performance in his first game in relief. After an excellent effort in an overtime victory over Los Angeles, Raycroft was torched for four goals in two periods before being pulled from the game. Corey Schneider, recently recalled from Manitoba of the AHL, played the third period in net giving up three more goals as Anaheim cruised to a 7-2 victory. The Canucks scored twice in the first five minutes of the game to lead 2-0 before giving up seven unanswered goals.

The Columbus Blue Jackets learned a valuable lesson about NHL hockey on Friday night-it’s dangerous to ‘sit on a lead’ and particularly against the defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins. Down 3-1, Pittsburgh tied the game late in the third period as Ruslan Fedotenko and Alex Goligoski each lit the lamp with less than three minutes remaining. After a scoreless overtime period, Sidney Crosby scored the only goal of the shootout to give the Penguins an improbable 4-3 victory. It was the 9th win in ten games for Pittsburgh, who are a perfect 6-0-0 on the road. Columbus lost for the fifth time in six games after a 5-1 start to the NHL season.
